Buddhist Ethics for Social Development


            In modern day, most of people think that people who live in developed countries are happy because they have many material comforts etc. This is what we think but in reality, there are facing many serious problems such as ethical problems, fear, worries, insecurity, violence, mental disturbance, social problems and so on. So they are not happy as we think.
            According to Buddhist point of view, there must be reason or cause for these uncomfortable problems in the present day because without cause there is no effect or result. To solve this problem Buddhism guides us why there are many problems and how to overcome them. Here we Buddhists have known the simplest guideline message given by the Buddha to all for the way of life.
            Not to do any evil deeds. 
To do good deeds. To purify the mind.
This simple practical method is to be applied in everyday life and every society for everyone so that the world will be better place to live in.
In the massage, the first point “Not to do any evil deeds” tells about morality or ethics so this first step is very important and essential for social development as well as mental development. Buddhism believes that without proper moral or ethical standard, there will not be peaceful, happy and harmonious community or society so we have to be careful our moral actions whatever we act by action, words also in our attitude if we really want to develop our society. It is said that there is no one who does not want to live in peaceful life because we all human beings like to live in peaceful life, family, nation and globe. To have wonderful environment we have to develop our moral standard. Buddhist ethics are towards to not only spiritual values but also social development it brings us together in harmony with others.
        In Buddhist ethics basically there are five precepts which should be practiced for everyone. Abstaining from killing, stealing, telling lies, sexual misconduct and drinking alcohol, these five precepts are to be practiced so that everyone will have a really happy life. To archive this goal, there is no short-cut way. There is one the salvation that putting Buddhist ethics into practical actions we will be able to answer today globe serious situations that we are facing and will have true social development which will lead to higher spiritual values.
